Banjo Kazooie

This may come as a surprise in the Gamer Girls Tribute series, but we're giving credits to a female character which doesn't look like a virtual human being. No, it's time to introduce Kazooie!

Kazooie is a rare female red crested Breegull who is one of the main leading characters in the Banjo Kazooie series of games. Her first role wasn't something to be proud of, but we all need to start somewhere, right? She resides in Banjo's backpack and throughout the game, she remains there. What a credit to a female character in the year 1998 (and I try to keep my mouth shut about the story goal to rescue Banjo's kidnapped sister). Anyway, although her role in the Nintendo 64 game Banjo Kazooie wasn't that big, the game itself was a hit and sequel worthy.

Her backpack role was good enough to let her “shine” again in the N64 sequel Banjo-Tooie. Her role became bigger and was able to split with Banjo and go adventuring on her own! This is also the case in the GBA game Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge at the start of which she is kidnapped (originality all over again), leaving Banjo to complete the game's first level unaided.

But who is Kazooie, what makes her special? I guess that can be answered quite easily; it's her talent to give sarcastic commentary about the in-game events. It's indeed her sharp tongue that gets Banjo and herself in trouble; fights and overall sticky situations, and Banjo “hates” her for this! We can state that her tongue reacts faster than her brain, but it fits to her impulsive character.

When involved in a fight, her attacks consist mainly launching a variety of eggs at her enemies but she can also use her strong beak to attack on occasion. One of the more useful abilities she's granted in Banjo-Tooie is the ability to transform into a dragon, granting her increased strength in her attacks, as well as fire breath to replace her peck attack and an unlimited supply of Fire Eggs. And before we forget, it wouldn't be acceptable to leave out important info about Kazooie's ability to play her Kazoo.

Kazooie's latest role was in the Xbox360 Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts where she was given a wrench with the ability to pick up objects, move obstacles, activate switches, and whack enemies. Although using it against enemies is unneeded because of the ability to ram baddies with an assembled vehicle car is much more effective. Now you may wonder who is driving, the female Kazooie or the male Banjo? Forget this pop quiz, it's always the gamer who's responsible for the virtual character actions, and that includes Kazooie's actions also. Take care of her!
