by Wencke Schuncken

Part 4 already, and although we covered 15 excellent games with a release date in 2010, we still have many more games to show you. In this part we'll check out the new Halo, Heavy Rain, I Am Alive, Jumpgate Evolution and Just Cause 2.

Halo: Reach Halo: Reach is an upcoming first-person shooter video game for the Xbox 360. Halo: Reach is a prequel to Halo that takes place during the Battle of Reach, featured in Halo: The Fall of Reach and Halo: First Strike, near the end of the Human-Covenant War. The game follows the actions of Noble Team, a United Nations Space Command special operations unit composed of six SPARTAN supersoldiers. Players assume the role of the Lieutenant, a replacement for a presumably deceased member of the Noble squad and is identified by the callsign Noble Six. This game is scheduled for release at the end of this year on Xbox360.

Heavy Rain Details about the plot of Heavy Rain remain scarce. Director David Cage has stated that Heavy Rain would be "a very dark film noir thriller with mature themes", without any supernatural elements, and that "the real message [of the game] is about how far you're willing to go to save someone you love." There are four playable characters — an FBI profiler named Norman Jayden, a retired private detective named Scott Shelby, an architect named Ethan Mars, and a journalist named Madison Paige. All playable characters are said to be looking for a serial killer known as "The Origami Killer". Heavy rain will be released in the first quarter of 2010, exclusively on PS3.

I am Alive I Am Alive is an upcoming action and survival. The game takes place in post-apocalyptic Chicago after a major-scale earthquake, and tells the story of a man named Adam Collins. The plot focuses on Adam's life during the aftermath of an earthquake, which shatters his life as a citizen, while the rest of the world is under a water crisis. After the rescue team fails to arrive, Adam gets caught in chaos that gets worse by the hour. Chicago has been cut off from the outside world. Adam sets up a refugee camp in the ruins of Chicago to attract the government's attention. The player will need to find resources, organize survivors and search for Adam's girlfriend, Alice. In the midst of Chicago’s ruins, the player will have to survive for nine days. I Am Alive is going to be released in March on PS3, Xbox360, Wii and PC

Jumpgate Evolution Jumpgate Evolution, commonly abbreviated as JGE, is a massively multiplayer online game. The game is a sequel to Jumpgate: The Reconstruction Initiative and features a new graphics engine, all new assets and more accessible game play. It contains a twitch-based combat system; Damage caused by the player will have constant and predictable damage, provided the target is hit. Players pick a nation at the start of the game but this does not limit them to certain roles. They can fulfill any role by buying a ship they deem fit for it. But players do have to acquire a license to be able to pilot that ship first. Players will also be able to gain standing with any nation regardless of whether they are a subject. The game will offer both player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) oriented content. And although open PvP is a major focus the game will also feature instanced PvP with rewards and XP. They are also working on implementing different risk/reward environments such as a system with a harsher death penalty for people who prefer a more hardcore kind of PvP gameplay. Let’s find out in quarter one of this year on PC if it can compete with space related online games of Star Wars and Star Trek.

Just Cause 2Developers just love to make their fans happy by releasing sequels. Just Cause 2 is such a game in which the player can enjoy a sandbox style action. The gameplay is similar to that of its predecessor, in which the player is free to roam the game's open world at will without having to focus on the game's storyline. It takes place on the fictional island of Panau, situated in the Malay Archipelago. It is geographically similar to both New Zealand and Hawaii. The AI has been rewritten for Just Cause 2 and it should improve the AI of enemies. The hybrid aiming system is also a new feature that helps the player to quickly aim at enemies while leaving the player in full control over the cross-hair; as such, the player is rewarded for skillful manual aiming. With new weapons on the black market such as the rocket launcher with laser-controlled rockets, we’ll be having lots of fun, no matter where you roam as a player. Just Cause 2 will be released on PS3, Xbox360 and PC in March.
