Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today revealed a Summer 2011 North American release for Catherine, a game in which "falling for a girl" is meant literally, for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

"Catherine is an unprecedented exploration of the pleasures and horrors of love," commented Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales at Atlus. "As Vincent, a man recently succumbed to the irresistible beauty of the game's titular diversion, players find themselves swept into a treacherous love triangle. Catherine's core themes-those of free will, of the delicate nature of relationships and the choices we make within them, marry perfectly with the intense, terror-filled gameplay that serves to accurately reflect Vincent's growing sense of anxiety. It is an experience wholly unlike any to come before it, and is certain to leave gamers talking and thinking about Vincent's tribulations long after the credits have rolled."

Catherine is currently scheduled to release in Summer 2011 for PlayStation 3 system and Xbox 360 system. The game's official website, website, will launch soon, offering more details and media. Fans who want to get their hands on more of Catherine's goods should keep an eye out for exciting extras. More to come!

About Catherine
Vincent likes his girlfriend. Katherine's pretty, smart, and successful. Trouble is, she's starting to talk about long-term commitment, something Vincent's spent his entire life avoiding. Since romantic complications are the last thing he wants to deal with, Vincent meets his friends for their regular night of drinks. Little does he know that he's about to be blindsided by a beautiful, seductive, irresistible freight train named Catherine. Suddenly, he's hung over in bed next to the most beautiful woman he's ever seen, unsure about the previous night's events. Was it just making out, he wonders, or did something more serious happen between them? Should he tell Katherine? Will he ever see Catherine again? Vincent's about to find that a stumble on the staircase of love can turn into a horrific, fatal plummet...

Key Features

* The Horrors of Love-Vincent's waking fears, doubts, pressures, and growing guilt about commitment and fidelity now gleefully follow him into his dreams, manifesting as horribly disfigured monsters and a ticking clock.
* Between a Rock and a Soft Place-The player must navigate Vincent through heavy moral decisions. As in real life, hardly anything is black and white. What is the value of honesty? What is the right thing to do? Either way, someone's going to get hurt. Worse yet, someone could die.
* The Nightmare of Your Dreams-Under the watch of producer Katsura Hashino, acclaimed director of Persona 3 and Persona 4, famed character artist Shigenori Soejima and master composer Shoji Meguro create sights and sounds unlike anything else. As unforgettable and original as the game's narrative, Catherine's visual direction and musical score define and perfectly complement Vincent's terrifying ascent into the dizzying perils of love.
* Escape With or From a Friend-Local competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, in addition to leaderboards, ensure that the many thrills and horrors of racing through twisted stages can be enjoyed by more than one player and add hours of extra gameplay to the overall experience.

ATLUS today released a new trailer (in addition to a new batch of screenshots) depicting the twisted nightmares at the heart of the upcoming action-adventure/puzzle game Catherine, releasing July 26, 2011 for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system (PS3™) and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. In addition, the publisher revealed that the official Catherine demo would release for both platforms on July 12, giving fans an early opportunity to experience a taste of the game's bold visual style and daring subject matter prior to its July 26 launch.

The new video introduces viewers to a growing phenomenon that has just recently enveloped Vincent, the game's protagonist. When he goes to sleep every night, he finds himself in the middle of twisted, terrifying nightmares, forced to climb up before his footing gives way and he plummets to his demise, and away from horrific manifestations in order to stay alive. Moreover, Vincent is not alone in this challenge; other men are struggling through the same supernatural maze. All of this is, of course, complementary to the dilemmas Vincent creates for himself during the day in his interpersonal relationships.

The July 12 demo will introduce players to the main characters, particularly Vincent and his growing sense of panic at repeatedly finding himself within terror-filled nightmares. Fans can enjoy the stunning anime from Studio 4°C, the beautifully rendered in-engine cutscenes, and get their first hands-on with Catherine's core gameplay as they navigate Vincent through his nightmares. Even North American gamers who tried the Japanese demo will have reason to download, as it will offer them a chance to preview to the English voice track. Fans are encouraged to log onto their platform of choice download the Catherine demo early next week!

Catherine is currently scheduled to release on July 26, 2011 for PlayStation 3 system and Xbox 360 system with an MSRP of $59.99 for the standard edition and $79.99 for the limited-run "Love Is Over" Deluxe Edition (available at participating retailers, while supplies last). Fans are encouraged to pre-order at participating retailers to receive the Catherine Sound Disc & Art Book, a free extra available to customers who reserve either the standard or deluxe edition of the game for either platform.
