Only three days into the campaign, the game has already achieved 15% of its needed funding. “The initial phase of our campaign went beyond our expectations”, says Adrian Goersch, Managing Director of Black Forest Games. “We are especially happy that so many international fans support our endeavor to breathe new life into the Giana brand for its 25th anniversary.” Bringing a classic to life! “How do you revive a 25 year old classic?” Jean-Marc Haessig, the Creative Director of Black Forest Games explains: “I asked myself what the core elements of The Great Giana Sisters were. How could we bring it to the next level? And not just the graphics, but also music and game play, all while staying true to the spirit of the game? When I asked those questions aloud, our team went nuts about the concept. We went back and forth with ideas, how to implement them and wondered if a complete transformation of the game – graphics, music, heroine with all the morphing involved – in real time, at any time – would be technologically feasible. In the end, we had our first playable level and realized that it wouldn’t be just feasible, but also a blast to play. And that’s when Project Giana was born.” When industry legend Chris Hülsbeck (Turrican, R-Type) and the talented folks of Machinae Supremacy agreed to work on the soundtrack, the result was impressive to say the least. Black Forest Games announces the release of the public demo of their new game Project Giana (working title). Jump, dash and twirl your way through Giana’s dream in this demo and utilize the twist to your advantage to get past obstacles, beat enemies and find secret passages. What may look like yet another platformer at first glance quickly shows off its main gameplay feature: the entire game world smoothly transforms from spooky dream to fluffy nightmare at the push of a button. The change isn’t merely visual - you have to time your twists in order to succeed. The first of the released levels is an introduction to shifting between the worlds and to Giana’s abilities in each of those dreams. The second level demonstrates one of the final stages of the game and offers an advanced challenge for players who want to test their mettle in a fast-paced, world-changing platformer. Both levels are available directly from the Project Giana website as well as from selected media partners and via BitTorrent download. Project Giana’s campaign on Kickstarter is about to enter its final week. At this time of writing, 3,500 backers have supported us with over $100,000 in funding. $150.000 are necessary to be able to release the game in foreseeable time. $250.000 will ensure finalizing the game how Black Forest Games has envisioned it. If the campaign hits $300,000, the game will be released not only on PC, XBLA and PSN, but also on OUYA, a new open game console that just recently has been funded on Kickstarter. The fundraising campaign on Kickstarter began on July 30th, 2012 and ends on August, 31st 2012. Screenshots and more details about the project are available on Black Forest Games’ website: website EPK Download-Link: website Follow us on Twitter: website Be a Project-Giana-Fan on Facebook: website About Black Forest Games: Founded in 2012 by the core development and leadership team behind Spellbound Entertainment, Black Forest Games is a new studio focused on high-quality video games. The studio is based in Offenburg, Germany and currently employs a staff of international (French, German, American, Belarus and more) industry professionals that have experience building games for all major game platforms. About Project Giana: Giana is a girl of polar opposites, trapped in a fractured dream of rainbows and shadows. Harkening back to the 80’s Great Giana Sisters, Project Giana pulls you into a phantasmagorical adventure of contrasting themes underscored with music produced by Chris Huelsbeck and Machinae Supremacy – classic Giana tunes flow into metal riffs and back again as you switch between dream and nightmare. Giana’s dual nature is a reflection of the game world. You can warp her dreams at the push of a button, causing Giana herself to shift accordingly. Both the world and Giana will behave differently depending on whether you are in the dream or nightmare, allowing you to master each level with transformative tricks. Project Giana is set to be released in late 2012 for PC, followed by Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. | ||
